Kere has been carving for over 15 years and
is mainly self taught, though had the privilege of being
taught by Master Carver Tony Kapua of Te Arawa.
Woodcarving is a lifelong passion for Kere
on both a personal and professional level and allows Kere to work extended
hours in the surroundings of his home and support of his whanau
(family). "I consider myself to be a practical person rather than a
theory based person. Working with wood allows me to express myself in a
deep and meaningful manner."
"Carving is what I love to do, and the
prospect of making a living out of my passion is what drives me in making a
successful business. If doing what you love equates to longevity, and
longevity is one important element to a successful business, then I believe I
have the tools and determined focus to apply these across the board."
